Kick off the conference’s day 2 by joining fellow attendees for the inaugural Region VI PDC Ruck Walk. We began this event this year as it is the 25th year anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and doing so to honor and remember.
A "ruck" simply means walking while carrying a backpack ("rucksack"). While many participants choose to add weight to their pack for an added fitness challenge, weight is completely optional. Whether you carry a lightly loaded backpack or simply join us for the walk, the goal is to enjoy the outdoors, connect with fellow colleagues, and start the day with purpose.
Our route will follow the sidewalks and walking paths throughout the beautiful Kingston Plantation property and will be a 5K loop beginning and finishing at the conference’s main entrance at the Hilton hotel.
Participants are encouraged to walk at a comfortable pace, and no one will be left behind.
What to Bring
Comfortable walking or athletic shoes
A backpack or rucksack, or weighted vest (optional)
Water or a refillable water bottle
Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing
Reflective vest or reflective strips
If you choose to add weight to your pack, we recommend using 10–20 pounds for recreational participants. Secure the weight inside your backpack so it cannot shift while walking. This event is intended for fellowship and fitness, not competition use loads under your own discretion and fitness abilities.
Safety & Expectations
Throughout the ruck, there will be leads to help guide all participants on the route and maintaining safety throughout. As we proceed please remain on designated sidewalks and walking paths, obey any pedestrian crossings, and stay aware of your surroundings. Walk at a pace that matches your fitness level, stay hydrated, and let the event leaders know immediately if you begin to feel unwell.
Whether you're an experienced rucker or simply looking for a relaxing morning walk with colleagues, everyone is welcome.
